When you are trekking the Michinoku Coastal Trail and see the sign with the trail logo, you may feel that it is an endless trail. Stretching along the majestic Pacific Ocean, the trail is approximately 1,000 kilometers long. It is a long trail that stretches from Kabushima in Hachinohe City to Soma City in Fukushima Prefecture. Sanriku Reconstruction National Park

Sanriku Reconstruction National Park is a vast national park spanning from Aomori to Miyagi prefectures, established by the Ministry of the Environment in May 2013 to contribute to the reconstruction of the Sanriku region, which was devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. There are many places where you can feel the blessings and threats of nature, the lifestyle and culture nurtured by the symbiosis of people and nature, and see the dynamic landscape and varied flora and fauna.

 

Michinoku Coastal Trail

This is the longest trail course in Japan, stretching about 1,000 km along the coastline from Hachinohe City in Aomori Prefecture to Soma City in Fukushima Prefecture. The trail is full of sights such as beautiful cliffs, the unique scenery of the rias coast, and the world's three most beautiful forests. As you sway in the sea breeze amidst the overwhelming beauty of nature, please experience the unforgettable impressions that can only be discovered by walking.

 

Sanriku Geopark

Sanriku Geopark is the largest geopark in Japan and was recognized as a "Japan Geopark" in September 2013. It is a valuable and magnificent park where you can learn about the historical topography and geology of the rias coastline that stretches from Hachinohe City in Aomori Prefecture to Kesennuma City in Miyagi Prefecture, blessed with mining resources, natural phenomena such as earthquakes and tsunamis, and the traditions of the people living there and their relationship with nature.
